SportsFest-The sports day of NHVPS-II- 27.01.2018

Sports teaches you character-it teaches you to play by the rules.  It teaches you to know what it feels like to win and lose-it teaches you about life

“ SportsFest” our annual sports day was held on January 27, 2018, on a clear sunny morning.   Our Principal, Mrs. Shobhana Prabhakaran welcomed our parents and the chief guest Ms. Aisshwarya D.K.S., Trustee Secretary (Schools) to the sporting extravaganza. In her address, our Principal stressed on the importance of sports in a student’s life.  She stated that a child should be encouraged to involve himself or herself in sports, art and culture beside academics to achieve overall development.

The school flag  is a visual symbol used for identification, pride and respect for the ideals that the the school stands for.  Ms. Aisshwarya and our Principal hoisted our school flag with our motto –  Knowledge is power and our mission – to strive, to seek, to find and not to yield. Following their inspection, the three houses, Shraddha, Shramma, and Shreya  formed a parade for the march past.  The drumbeat, synchronized arms, and thudding feet inspired a sense of dignity and pride. Keeping in tradition, of lighting the Olympic Flame that represented endeavour for protection and struggle for victory, the school captain, Ms. Aditi S Dilip lit the cauldron to mark the start of the sports meet. She, along with the three house captains, Aryan S Raj of Shraddha, Kanyaka Prasad of Shramma, and Ankitha G of Shreya, and the students took the NHVPS-II School oath.

The second leg of the sports day began with the track events comprising of running race, three-legged race, potato race, skipping and slow cycling to name a few.  A dazzling display of Karnataka’s folk dances like Dollu Kunitha, Kamsale, and Veeragase transformed the place into an astonishing colourful playground.  A brilliant display of yoga poses and karate chops were the other jewels in the crown.

The beautiful day culminated successfully with the award ceremony with the Shreya house bagging the rolling trophy for art and culture, sports, and overall performance.  Colourful balloons representing the three houses were released into the sky as the curtains came down on Sports Fest 2017-18.  The enthralled parents took home to cherish the blissful moments of their children who participated in the exciting sojourn.
